Reaching out to us in person for the first time? We prefer email as we get a ton of spam and robo calls (that’s what happens when you advertise your mobile phone number). If you call, please leave Mary a message and we will phone you back as soon as possible. Please do not text me as a first point of contact.
About Mary Pope-Handy
I am a Silicon Valley native, a full-time, second generation Realtor® since early 1993 and a top producing agent. My clients come to me as repeat buyers and sellers, referred by past clients or other Realtors, or from my writing.
Areas of expertise: My sales are in all of Santa Clara County with a focus on Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell and the San Jose areas of Cambrian, Almaden, Willow Glen, Blossom Valley as well as Cupertino, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View, and areas along the Highway 85 corridor. I sell all types of residential real estate: single family homes, townhouses, condominiums, planned unit developments, estate properties. (I do sometimes go into neighboring counties, but those are not my target markets.)
Education & Designations: An education junkie, I have a very thorough and ongoing real state education – including eight college-level courses. I take non-required coursework to stay on the cutting edge, with many courses specifically on negotiation alone, including a certificate from Stanford University for a negotiation course passed there. (Additionally, I do hold a BA and an MA.)
I hold a number of designations, including these four from the National Association of Realtors:
- ABR Designation – Accredited Buyers Representative
- CIPS – Certified International Property Specialist
- CRS – Certified Residential Specialist
- SRES -Seniors Real Estate Specialist
Writing: I co-authored a book with Ken Deshaies, “How To Get The Best Deal When Selling Your Home In Silicon Valley” published in 2004. It has been very well received and while some of the methods of home selling have changed, the basics are there. You can find it online if interested – or ask me for a copy when we meet, I’m happy to give it to you.
My real estate blogs are a joy to write and my more than 2000 articles bring me a good deal of new business each year. I have won blogging competitions and been named as one of the best real estate bloggers in the US. Three of the blogs are “Live in Los Gatos”, “San Jose Real Estate Los Gatos Homes”, and “Move2SiliconValley” (see below for the links).
Philosophy: Folks who are buying and selling homes in Silicon Valley are highly sophisticated. They don’t need a “sales job” but an advocate who provides them with good data and a way to make sense of it so they can make intelligent decisions that will have long-term benefits.
I work to help them, every step of the way, to analyze all the facts and stay current on everything affecting the buying and selling of homes: new laws, contractual changes and implications, trends, environmental issues and, of course, market conditions.

About Clair Handy
I am a South Bay native, third generation Silicon Valley Realtor, and Mary Pope-Handy’s best (and only) daughter.
From a very young age I had an education in realty. My curiosity towards Mary’s work and a keen eye for detail lead me to learn how to distinguish architectural styles, identify signs of termite infestation, and become quite good at playing Guess-The-List-Price on trips around town.
In high school, one of my first summer jobs was as Mary’s assistant, creating content for her award-winning blogs, and I have continued to provide content for the blogs since.
After graduating from LMU’s College of Communication and Fine Arts with honors, I pursued a career in museums and historic homes while studying animation part-time at De Anza Community College. During the 2020-2021 pandemic, I took the opportunity to pursue a real estate license and to assist and learn from the best mentor and top-notch Realtor Mary.
I continues to enjoy exploring the many communities and neighborhoods of the South Bay and researching and writing articles on the cares and concerns, new and old, of homeowners. I currently hold NAR’s Green Designation and independently study historic homes, two of my passions.
Most of all, I am happy to be joining Mary’s team to help even more nice folks to confidently buy and sell homes in Silicon Valley.
