Often in Los Gatos, we have helicopters flying overhead. In early summer, it’s not uncommon to have fire drills at Belgatos Park, the Heintz Open Space Preserve and areas nearby. It can sound like something terrible is going on and residents often wonder if it’s a drill or if there’s a true emergency.
To the town’s credit, on Monday, only about 2 hours after the drills began, we were notified. Anyone who signed up for alerts got a call, or a text, or an email, or some combination of them, that this is a drill and that it would go on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thank you, Town of Los Gatos, for keeping us updated. We’re glad you are working with so many other county agencies to be prepared for hillside fires. And we so appreciate your updating us in a timely manner this year. Thank you!
