The Town of Los Gatos has five designated “historic districts“. They include the following:
Almond Grove Historic District
Broadway Area Historic District
Downtown Los Gatos Historic District
Glenridge & Bachman Park neighborhood
Fairview Plaza Historic District
University / Edelen Historic District
Why aren’t there more, given that many areas are older and the town dates back to the 1800s? One reason is that the neighborhood must be more than just old. It also must have significance to the town’s history. Another reason is that Los Gatos suffered two great fires that wiped out much of the downtown area east of highway 17 (near Forbes Mill).
Other centrally located parts of Los Gatos include
Creffield Heights and the San Benito area
