Summer Musicals
Los Gatos Youth Theatre has offered theatrical experiences for local students since 2009, and in October 2022 a rebrand was announced on Instagram and Facebook with the company beginning a new season as the West Valley Youth Theater. The nonprofit’s old email and website are down, so go to wvyt.org/ to reach them, or follow them on one of their social media pages.
However there’s a little confusion about their nonprofit status. The website claims 501(c)(3), but West Valley Youth Theater did not come up in an IRS Tax Exempt search (LGYT did, but the information was old). The nonprofit Los Gatos Youth Theater appears on the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers (it’s renewal / expiration date was 5/15/2024), though it’s past the renewal date and no registration could be found under the new name or any other active theatrical nonprofits in zip code 95031 (the address shown on their website).
For families, kids, and teens there are other ways to get involved. Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation has a number of Theater Camps listed on their website for different age groups (search under Camps – Summer Camps – Specialty Camps – T : Theater), including some by Peninsula Youth Theatre, a Mountain View based organization with a branch summer camp location in Saratoga.

The amazing Los Gatos Youth Theatre has two productions being presented this month:
- The Sound of Music, Youth edition (ages 7 – 14) and
- Disney’s Freaky Friday, Encore group (high school students ages 14-19).
The actors and crew have been working hard for weeks to make these shows spectacular! All the details are below.

This year, the performances will be at the R. J. Fisher auditorium, an indoor theater. Masks are required in the audience.
