October 05, 2012

Red grapes (from the Los Gatos Famer's Market)The Santa Clara Valley Wineries are hosting a passport weekend again Oct 6 & 7 2012 from 11am to 5pm.  For $30, it’s a great reason to stop by a number of local, fine wine tasting rooms, including Testarossa, Byington, and The French Cellar (in Los Gatos or LG mountains), Cinnabar, Cooper-Garrod, and Savannah-Chanelle (in Saratoga) and several more.

What’s offered?  The website for the association says “Barrel Tasting – BBQs – Winery Tours – Special Discounts – New Releases – Music – AND GREAT WINES!”

Passports can be purchased at any of the participating wineries.

For more information, check out the website (small print indicates that this weekend applies too – initially it looks as though it’s for a similar event in March only).

Testarossa Winery: Upcoming Class on Pairing Food & Wine on June 29 2010

June 21, 2010

Testarossa Winery 300-A College Avenue Los Gatos, CA 95030Today we stopped by Testarossa Winery to do a little wine tasting. They were having a Father’s Day special whereby Dads didn’t have to pay for tasting (and, as always, if you buy something there’s a credit toward the wine you purchase). The “cave” and tasting room were pretty busy but it was not uncomfortably crowded. Extra nice for us was also bumping into some old friends who were tasting then too.

While there, I picked up a flyer about upcoming events at Testarossa. One of them caught my eye: a class entitled “Wine and Food 101”, which includes an introduction on pairing food and wine. This class will be offered on June 29 2010 and is limited to 24 Club Testarossa Members & their guests. The cost is $40 and reservations are mandatory. The website encourages those who are interested to contact them by email clubt@testarossa.com or phone 408-354-6150 ext. 36.

Check the events link, above, for all upcoming events. Or visit their website at www.TestarossaWinery.com for even more information.

Testarossa Winery is situated at the location of the historic Jesuit Novitiate Winery at 300-A College Avenue
in Los Gatos (off Prospect & near Resevoir Road). Some of their wines carry the novitiate label, a nice reminder and tribute to when the Jesuits ran the winery.
